Treatment Medications at Crossroads

At Crossroads, we are committed to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for people with substance use disorders. Our treatment options include a full array of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medications designed to support recovery and promote lasting wellness. We understand that your recovery journey is unique, so our providers work closely with every patient to create a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

FDA-Approved Medications for Opioid Use Disorder

We offer a wide range of effective medications that have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD), including:
  • Methadone: A long-acting medication that helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Methadone is typically administered daily and is dispensed under medical supervision to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Buprenorphine: This medication helps to diminish withdrawal symptoms and reduce opioid cravings, allowing you to focus on recovery. Buprenorphine can be taken in various forms. One of the most common forms of buprenorphine is Suboxone, a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Most often, this is given as a prescription that you can fill at the pharmacy.

Long-Acting Injectable Medications for Opioid Use Disorder

In addition to oral medications, we offer injectable options at most of our locations that can provide longer-lasting relief and are taken on a weekly or monthly basis:
  • SUBLOCADE® (buprenorphine extended-release injection): Administered once a month, SUBLOCADE offers a continuous release of buprenorphine to help stabilize you and prevent opioid relapse.
  • BRIXADI® (buprenorphine extended-release injection): Available as both weekly and monthly injections, BRIXADI provides flexible dosing options to suit your specific treatment needs.

FDA-Approved Medications for Alcohol Use Disorder

To support those in recovery from alcohol use disorder (AUD), we also offer a range of FDA-approved medications that have shown effectiveness in reducing alcohol cravings and supporting long-term recovery, including:
  • Naltrexone (including the injectable form VIVITROL®): An oral or injectable medication that helps reduce cravings and the pleasurable effects of alcohol, supporting relapse prevention.
  • Acamprosate: This medication works by stabilizing brain chemistry, which can reduce symptoms of post-acute withdrawal and help maintain abstinence.
  • Disulfiram: Taken daily, disulfiram creates an unpleasant reaction when alcohol is consumed, providing a deterrent for drinking.
